Welcome to Artsagri ~ the new network site for people involved in
the arts & creative industries in the South East

About artsagri

Artsagri is a new online social network for those involved in the creative industries. It aims to strengthen the practise based network of creative people in the South East, by providing a versatile hub for the exchange of information, expertise and material.

On saturday 20th began our drive at getting artists familiar with the building. A group of people were invited to visit the building and consider using it - a special incentive was offered for the month of March too. as a result we are begining to get bookings for March.the proposed uses ranged from using the space as a retreat for solitary writing, through groups using the space to work out ideas, to some construction projects. A very good spread of ideas, lets hope that the booking keep materialising.

This website got made public on the 1st of April 2009. It is currently being tested by a few invitees. If you stumble across it, then consider yourself an invitee, post stuff, partake, and give me feedback please. I hope it will only take a couple of weeks before there are many more members and all the glitches are gone. - the site admin, also David Parfitt -

Chesworth Arts farm is bookable for any period not already booked on its schedule calendar. the space is rented at a very low cost on a daily basis for any creative activity associated with the arts, or allied subject. the building has excellent possibilities for meetings, making, retreats, working in the countryside, trying stuff out, photoshoots, performance, etc. it is easily reached by train & bus from Brighton or london and by car.

1000 names at Fabrica for Brighton Festival. In a very direct way I have come to know two sculptures by Anish Kapoor very well in the past month. First I assisted with the installation of both of the sculptures at Fabrica (about which I shall say more later) and since then I have been manning the gallery at night and weekends, being unable to leave for periods of up to 21 hours at a stretch. This has meant that I have spent an extraordinary amount of time alone with the sculptures (60 hours over the Easter p... Read more

Here I am then, sitting in a large oak throne on the cancel of a deserted church, facing the nave and the empty body of the church. In front of me, rather than pews, a bronze container full of faux entrails, and a small low plinth with five colourful sandcastles. I have been here for 22 hours, and shortly before that i was here for 20 hours, I will get to go home briefly in another 18 hours. It is easter and everything has gone quiet. The experience of being locked alone in a large building, unable to leave, is odd, somethi... Read more

Perhaps I should explain. While making this website I have become even more nocturnal than Usual. So much so that many of the everyday things that I should be doing have become neglected. Then rather unexpectedly I was asked if I knew of anyone who could bear to spend nights guarding the Anish Kapoor Scuplture that will be in Fabrica during this years festival. It only took me a second to realise that this would be the ideal opportunity to get a small (less than the minimum wage) amount of money for being so hopelessly ti... Read more

I wanted to record all the issues and discoveries involved with making this site as they happened. But writing so much code really took all of my time, so it got completely neglected. But now that the site is live, i will hopefully have a bit of time to give insights into how and why the site is made - assuming that there aren't too many bugs...But most importantly - if you read this - please start your own blog - here on this site, and let us all know what it is that you are thinking, doing or whatever.   ...
